What is a prepaid SIM/prepaid eSIM?

A prepaid SIM/prepaid eSIM is a single-use SIM card/eSIM for which you pay a fee in advance to determine the data volume and duration of use.

What is an eSIM?

eSIM stands for Embedded SIM, which is a SIM card built into smartphones and other devices. It does not need to be replaced like a physical SIM card and allows communication by remotely writing information.

Can I purchase a SIM card?

You cannot purchase SIM cards on this site. If your device supports eSIM, you can use eSIM, so please consider purchasing from this site.

What devices support eSIM?

This service is available for devices that are eSIM compatible and SIM-free.

What is a SIM-free device?

SIM-free devices are smartphones and other devices that are not “SIM-locked,” meaning that they can only use the SIM card of a specific telecommunications carrier.

How can I check if my device is eSIM compatible?

Enter “*#06#” into the phone dialer and dial out. If you see the “EID” number on the screen, the handset is eSIM compatible.

Can I make calls and send SMS with an eSIM?

The eSIMs sold on this site cannot be used for calls or SMS. However, you can use calling and messaging apps that use data communication such as WhatsApp and Facebook.

Can I use tethering?

Yes, you can use tethering on your smartphones with eSIM.

Where in Japan can I use it?

It can be used in any tourist spot in Japan (excluding mountainous areas). It can be used in the Docomo/IIJ service area.

Can I use eSIM outside of Japan?

Cannot be used outside of Japan.

Can I use the eSIM on multiple devices?

It cannot be used on multiple devices.

From purchase to use

Please tell me the procedure for use.

1. Check if your device supports eSIM.

2. After your purchase, we will send you the information necessary for setup via email within approximately 5 minutes.

3. Once you arrive in Japan, install the eSIM.

4. Once the installation is complete, you can start using the service by connecting to the Internet.

What payment methods are available?

You can pay by credit card.

Can I use something other than a credit card?

Currently, payment by any method other than credit card is not possible.

Can I get a receipt?

We can issue one upon request. Please contact us using the contact form dedicated post-purchase contact form in the email sent at the time of purchase.

Why is consumption tax charged?

As required by Japanese law, domestic eSIMs and prepaid eSIMs are taxable items.

When should I buy?

We recommend purchasing it before you travel to Japan. Once you purchase it, you will receive a QR code by email, so you can install it as soon as you arrive in Japan. However, please note that the installation date will be the start date for your eSIM.

Can I purchase an eSIM before arriving in Japan?

You can purchase it before or after you arrive in Japan. However, please note that your data plan will start when you install the eSIM. We recommend that you install the eSIM using free Wi-Fi after entering Japan.

How do I receive my eSIM?

No physical cards will be sent. After purchase, a QR code will be sent to you by email within 5 minutes.

When does the usage period start?

The date the eSIM is installed will be the date you start using the eSIM.

When should I install an eSIM?

Please note that use will begin as soon as you install the eSIM. We recommend that you install the eSIM using free Wi-Fi after entering Japan.

How do I install an eSIM?

I don't know how to read the QR code.

How do I set up the APN?

How can I check if the eSIM is installed correctly?

Check your device's Settings menu.

On your iPhone, go to Settings > Cellular and check if your eSIM (a 14-digit number) is listed.

On Android, go to Settings > SIM Card Settings and check if your eSIM is listed in the eSIM section.

What happens if I run out of data?

Data communication speeds will be limited even during the subscription period.

Can I add more data if I've run out of data?

Additional data charges are not possible. You can purchase a new eSIM.

What happens if the usage period expires? What happens if I have unused data?

Once the usage period has expired, you will no longer be able to use the data even if you have remaining data.

Can I purchase an eSIM again?

You can purchase again.

Can I cancel my purchase?

We are sorry, but due to the nature of our products, we cannot cancel after purchase.

My device doesn't support eSIM, can I get a refund?

We are sorry, but due to the nature of our products, we are unable to provide refunds after purchase.

Questions about problems and malfunctions

I did not receive an email with the eSIM QR code after purchasing.

We will send you an email from "notify@in-bound.shop" about 5 minutes after your purchase. If you do not receive the email, please check your spam folder as it is likely there. If you cannot find the email, please contact us using the form in the link below.

I accidentally deleted the eSIM I had installed.

If you delete the eSIM, you will not be able to reinstall it and will not be able to use it. If you accidentally delete it, please purchase it again.

I can't install eSIM. If you see the message "Could not set up eSIM"

If the installation does not go well, please restart your smartphone (turn it off and then on) and try reading the QR code again. *The same display may appear if the SIM lock has not been unlocked.

I cannot install the eSIM. If the message “eSIM cannot be added (not valid)” / “There is a problem with the eSIM

Installation can only be done once per eSIM. If it has already been installed or you try to install it multiple times, the above error will be displayed.

Please note that if you delete the installed eSIM, you will not be able to reinstall it.

I can't communicate even though the installation is complete.

Please check the following points,
- APN is “vmobile.jp"
- Data roaming is turned on
- The default SIM for data communication is eSIM.
The pdf file downloaded from the “eSIM User's Guide” in the menu will be helpful.
